Treatment & Preservation: We endeavour to use minimal chemicals and be organic as possible. However like other organic timbers, Bamboo poles need to be treated to preserve. Unless specified all poles cut are given a borate solution treatment. For outdoor use & longevity, we recommend species less prone to insect attack.  Like timber, bamboo should be treated in a manner appropriate to requirements. i.e. Furniture should be lacquered. Bamboo should be kept off the ground and ends sealed from the elements.  Most bamboo will split over time when exposed to sun and weather. Note:  Recommendations are made to the best of our knowledge however, given the range of bamboo types applications & environmental variants additional treatment maybe required.

Many people are planting bamboo, especially the very popular Textilis Gracilis (Slender Weavers Bamboo) Textilis Textilis, Oldhamii or other special timber varieties. Very soon you will trim it or take out poles.  Don't Discard them.. use them ... as stakes or wardrobe rails or poles to use for flags, fishing rods or even the beginning of a fence or screen. Annual tidy ups will reap rewards !

We use and recommend these for bamboo - please visit our "Bamboo Tools" page.
